This is Matt's thumb a week after the accident. The white piece of flesh is all that was left for the Doctor to sew on. It may turn black and fall off, we'll just wait and see.

The thumb nail looks pretty intact after being sewn. It should grow back and look normal.

The thumb actually looks really good compared to a week ago, and Matt should heel pretty well. It is still pretty painful, and Matt doesn't like to take the pain meds because they make him feel yucky. The nerve in his thumb was partly ground up beyond repair so it causes weird nerve pain, and he will not regain feeling in that part of the thumb. But this all could have been much worse, and we're glad that its not.

okay that is the sickest thing i've ever seen...plus it is so sad , i'm sorry matt....i'm glad it didn't take your whole hand or arm or leg or face...but really youv'e been in our prayers and you are really lucky i guess that it wasn't worse...hopefully the pain will reside soon.....we love you mindy
YYEEEAAAHHH! I give that a 10! That is going to be one mean battle wound. You'll have to come up with a really cool story like how you had to wrestle an alligator to save your family.
Anyways, I hope you start feeling better. What a blessing it is that you will still have use of your thumb. I couldn't imagine life without it.
Love ya- Marty
p.s. your a better man than me i probably would have looked down and decided to just cut the rest of it off....out of pure terror...hang in there....mindy
Matt, Stay away from attack saws because you can't afford to lose any more digits or anything. I hate that you are in pain. Sometimes nerve pain can last a long time. I hope it subsides (not resides, Mindy; resided would be like it would take up residence in Matt's thumb) soon. I'm glad you shared those grisley pictures. Love Mom
The comment from Anthony Bonino is really from me, but I was logged on as Anthony. I can't figure this all out yet. Mom
YUK!! That is one ugly thumb!! I told my contractor that is building our new room about your thumb and how you did it. He laughed! He said he's nearly cut his thumb off doing the same thing so many times , It's only a matter of time before it's his turn. You contractors are all alike!! I'm glad you"ll recover!! love you! Raquel
